Husky Power is a program, focused on developing the potential of middle school aged girls through Sport-Based Youth Development (SBYD) learning and practices. The program started in the fall of 2016. Our participants are 7th and 8th grade girls that we have recruited and selected through an application process to participate in this Sport Based Youth Development Program. Each girl expressed interest in various sports and we have built a program around their wants, needs, and expectations. The program primarily focuses on mind-body development through sport and the application of leadership skills and emotional intelligence in every activity. We have given the girls a great deal of autonomy in programing. They created their own expectations and we selected physical activities based on their preferences.
